The authority you have to sense what your physical body needs in movement and nourishment. The authority to know what your mind needs to learn, process, decide. The authority to move towards an experience, person when your notice your energy pulling you there. The authority to process your emotions and be guided by the information available through feeling.
Instead of being taught how to listen to ourselves we’re repeatedly guided to listen to others, to an external authority and to give our centre away.
Giving your centre away is highly de-stabilising. Reclaiming it and attuning to your own inner guidance system is reclaiming your Authority.
How do you tune into your inherent abilities and listen with all 4 bodies (physical, intellectual/mind, energetic & emotional/feeling) producing a full bodied response that serves both you and the whole; your INvironment and the ENvironment? These 4 steps can help you along the path.
1. Learn to FEEL
Your ability to respond is directly linked to your ability to feel.
You have 4 core feelings: Anger, Sadness, Fear & Joy.
There are no more feelings. Just as there are only 3 primary colours that cannot be created through mixing other colours as they are colours in their own; so too are Anger, Sadness, Fear & Joy Feelings in their own right. They are pure archetypal energies.
These 4 feelings make up a large part of your inner navigational toolkit – they are your inner compass and are all as equally valuable as North, West, South & East. They bring you the gifts of Clarity, Connection, Intuition & Manifestation amongst many others.
If you want to reclaim you own authority and be authentically you in how you relate and respond in the world it is essential to reframe and reconnect with your feelings.
We unpack, reframe and explore these 4 feelings in The FEELING Rites.
In doing so you will eventually activate the archetypal energies of the Warrior/ess, the Lover, the Magician/Sorceress and The Queen/King as the benevolent leader; the leader who guides everyone to be their own leader.
2. Use your Emotions for Healing
Emotions are different to pure feelings. Emotions are either old feelings that have been unexpressed, pushed down and are incomplete OR they are feelings connected to beliefs that are not authentically yours.
Until feelings re consciously heard they are not complete and they begin to pile up. This ball of compounded, unheard feelings can be pretty intense at times.
It is stuck energy that wants to be in motion – emotion. This emotional energy will continue to (unconsciously) create spaces to provide you with opportunities to hear, express and complete unless you create them yourself consciously.
The bonus of choosing to create these healing spaces for yourself is that they can be safe and transformative. When they are created unconsciously they can be explosive and damaging.
We discern the difference between a feeling and an emotion and work with these distinctions on our 6 week journey through The FEELING Rites.
You can often detect an emotion by recognising that its charge is generally much bigger that is warranted or rational for the situation at hand. If the so called ‘feeling’ lingers around for more than 3 minutes you can be sure you’re dealing with an emotion.
3. Know the Stories you’re living within
There’s a bunch of stories or beliefs that you have taken on from various sources.
Parents (I must be nice and polite to be loved), siblings (I get what I want when I boss people around), friends (if I wear cool clothes I’ll fit in), education systems (listen and speak when you’re spoken to), institutions (life is dangerous and you scary and bad things might happen so project yourself by giving us your money to look after in case you need it for an emergency), politics (we’ll look after you and your best interests), society (to be accepted I must get a good job, find the ‘one’, buy a house and have a family) etc. etc.
What beliefs do you uphold on a daily basis? What rules (personal and or cultural values) are you afraid of breaking for fear of standing out? What might the consequences be? How do you sabotage yourself (by upholding these rules) from being guided by what you’re really here to do?
Start taking notice, write what you notice down and create small experiments that allow you to make changes to your routines, patterns and belief driven ways. Some stories, you may find, are really working for you. So keep them and change the ones that aren’t.
Remember “If you didn’t say yes to it, you wouldn’t be doing it.”
We explore your stories/boxes and your true Being self in The BEING Rites; the second part of our Foundation Rites journeys. You must complete The FEELING Rites as a pre-requisite to The BEING Rites.
4. Sit in the Seat of your Soul
If you’re not at home in the Centre of your body none of the above steps are possible.
Return to your Castle and take residence in your throne. Reclaim your Centre!
You must be home in order to feel what is there, to be with emotion and to listen to your own stories.
This world is doing its best to lure you away from it, to give it away to authorities that we’ve been trained to trust more than ourselves.
If you want to sit in your own driver’s seat and tune in to your own set of personal navigational tools, being Centered is essential.
Your Physical body has a natural centre of gravity just under the navel. Your Energetic body has a Being that holds presence and when that energetic presence is locked into your Physical centre – Boom! Your potential for reclaiming your Authority has just gone through the roof.
Reclaiming your Authority is a practice, a new muscle to exercise, it takes time, be patient.
Both The FEELING Rites and The BEING Rites journeys teach and re-inforce a particular practice of Being Centered in order to re-sensitise to feeling, distinguish emotions, reveal old stories and sabotages in order to live deeply in the story we are creating right here and now. Thanks for listening.
